Comment on Children At The Table of Christ (aka Paedocommunion) by Luke Welch

Hi, I enjoyed your post.

Maybe you see this the same way: I think the bible tells us that while some members will prove false, we must treat the body as saved, including the action of treating members individually as saved. Since we include our children, we must assume them to be faithful and raise them in THAT light, and not in the light of expectation that they will be reprobate.

If you look around any church, there are many baptized people. Some baptized people will fall away from the church. God knows this; he is sovereign in election. But we don't know within history how the story of the church will be played out.

However, we don't use the knowledge of some apostacy to treat the baptized as a group of lost people. Their baptism is enough to treat them as a group as saved. And we also talk to any individual church member as a member we expect to see in the resurrection.

A baptized child is not someone we can say, any more than the pastor, that they have no chance of leaving. But when we baptize them, we ARE saying we BELIEVE them to be saved.

Are we not to let our children sing with us as we sing Psalm 71, or Ps 22?

"Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
 from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.
5For you, O Lord, are my hope,
 my trust, O LORD, from my youth.
6Upon you I have leaned from before my birth;
 you are he who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you."

"Yet you are he who took me from the womb;
 you made me trust you at my mother’s breasts.
10On you was I cast from my birth,
 and FROM MY MOTHER'S WOMB YOU HAVE BEEN MY GOD."

Through all of history covenant people have expected that their children own the kingdom (as Your passage in Lk 18.15-17 says).

We are commanded to tell covenant children "diligently" that Yhwh is "OUR God", Yhwh alone (Dt 6.4). We are require to tell our children that they must love THEIR God with all their hearts (Dt 6.5) (see Dt 6.4-7)

Paul tells us our children are clean and holy (1 Cor 7.14), and Peter says that the promise FOUND IN BAPTISM is for us and our children (Ac 2.38-29).

Paul tells that AS OUR EXAMPLE, ALL ISRAEL WAS BAPTIZED in the sea, and ALL ISRAEL ATE AND DRANK CHRIST SPIRITUALLY AS FOOD AND DRINK (1 Cor 10.1-6). Paul says the Old Testament children drank from Christ.

1 Cor 10.17 tells us that all the body is bread, and all the body eat the bread.

1 Cor 12.13 tells us that the body is known by baptism and is known again by meal participation in drinking the spirit.

Ps 128 tells that the righteous man's children grow up as a covenantal vine around his TABLE:
"3Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
 within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
 around your table.
4Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
 who fears the LORD."

Keep up the blessings that your are handing down.

Happy Advent,
Luke Welch

11. You reuse gift bags and tissue paper( set your iron on the lowest setting )
12. Don't buy gift tags reuse Christmas cards and cut out the small pictures with pinking shears. You can have the kids do this and log it under art.

It is funny that you type this today because on the way home I seen New Life's sign outside their church. It said, "Get off Facebook and get in His Book." I got a kick out of this sign because it is so true and I'm guilty of it. (And of alot of things you said above.) :) I hope my grammar and punctuation is up to snuff for you.

That is when you have a galvanized metal bucket for holding used toilet paper and light it to keep warm and double the efficiency of your toilet paper! It will keep those boys from overstaying their welcome in the bathroom as well! :D

I am so thrilled for you. What a beautiful crib. Very nice high chair and car seat too. I am sure Emma will love her bouncy seat and other toys. I will find out Tuesday if our precious bundle is a boy or girl. Barrett desperately wants a sister.

Eat more watermelon! I rarely sit down and drink a glass of water. I drink a lot of unsweetened decaff tea. But I eat watermelon every day. If I get up in the middle of the night I always have a piece of melon. Watermelon with such a high water content is a great food in the summer time. Watermelon is high in vitamin C and Vitamin A also contains potassium. Call Jerry and tell him you would appreciate it if he would bring home a melon. Google search nutritional content of watermelon you will be surprised.

I love it...makes me want to go buy a truck.

I wonder if he was expecting a nice interview about his promotion, or if he was expecting the focus on how supposedly bad guns are.

I really wanted to be there Saturday but Tim had to work and I had no one to watch the boys. I had told your mother that I would send a gift. However, I decided to wait until I felt well enough to go shopping instead of having Tim just pick up some diapers. I was at Walmart last Monday but Tim and the boys were with me so I didn't really get to shop. I am so glad Petra was able surprise you. I had been afraid to call thinking I might spill the beans. I am so bad about things like that. I would have called today but Tim took us on a float trip to the Jacksfork. We had a wonderful day and I felt well. Tim goes back to work Thursday so if you don't hear from me before then it is because he is off. Love the pictures. Laurie said she had a good time at the shower.

Check out these websites too (looks cheaper than cottonbabies):
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Granitesmiths-Diaper-Store_Rubber-Plastic-Nylon-Pants_W0QQ_fsubZ10QQ_sidZ12506048QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

and:
http://www.doodlestextiles.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=DD

They are run by the same people but I think the ebay store might be slightly cheaper. This is where I got my cloth diapers and nylon covers originally and where I planned to start looking for wrap style covers this time around. I am going to try the snappi first but C is voting for the wraps b/c to him they seem like they'd be easier to get on and off (like the disposables). He doesn't do a ton of diapering but does help so he wants it to where he can do it easily.

OK Jonine... if you want to really pursue the non-electric life you must consider Michigan. We have not touched the 90 degree mark so far this summer. In fact, the 3rd of July the high was in the 60's. Most nights make it down into the 50's. Just thought I'd throw that into the mix. Hope ya'll are doing well.

And I put school off too! I think it's a syndrome of some sort! (smile)

The corn looks great! Ours didn't do so well, very skimpy in fact. The wind and rain also knocked down all the stalks over the weekend so we had to just strip what we had and make do. It is so fun to get all this good stuff from the garden though!

Hey Jonine those cucumbers look good. I have a lot of dill but not enough cucumbers to can yet. Which brings me to a question? Do your pickles get soft from one year to the next? Mine stay crisp. An elderly lady once told me that if you have well water your pickles will stay crisp. If you are on city water they will become limp. Wondering if this is true? We have harvested a lot of cabbage and potatoes. Some squash and cucumbers and enough beans for two meals. Our tomatoes will be late this year. We had to replant because of all the rain early this spring. I think fall beets work better. Miss you guys----Tammy

I also have been making my own laundry detergent. I think I'll be giving Biz a try. The recipe I have uses washing soda and Fels Naptha but in a much less ratio. I use 1/3 bar and end up with a 3 gallon bucketful. Maybe the Biz will get out the greasy stains better.

Easy batter fruit cobbler. I used 6 T butter, 5 cups of fruit(peaches,blueberries,stawberries) doubled the rest of the ingredients and baked in a 9x11" pan. It was so easy and delicious that I told Tim I may never make pie again. Tim didn't think that was funny.

Cumin Chicken with Apples -serve over egg noodles instead of rice since Jerry is a pill
