The Family Prayer

Gracious Father in Heaven, may your name be glorified through our lives!  Let our hope be set in You and impart to us Your grace so that we may turn from our wicked ways and endeavor to keep Your commandments. Remind us that when we sit, when we walk, when we rise up and when we lay down, we should make known the glory of the LORD to our children. Bethink us of Your wonderful works. (Psalms 78:2-7, Deuteronomy 11:18-19)

Enable us to follow the example of our Savior in our own home and community by seeking to live at peace with our neighbors, by serving one another instead of being served, all the while remembering that Christ will humble us if we choose to exalt ourselves. Let us follow after the things which make for peace by being kind, tenderhearted, bestowing forgiveness to others even as God in Christ has forgiven us.  Grant us the ability to lay aside our selfishness to become vessels that will further the great commission of our LORD especially during times when we can not fathom Your ways and thoughts. (Matthew 23:11-12, Romans 12:18, 14:19, Ephesians 4:32, Mark 16:15, Isaiah 55:8-9).

Grant us the ability to establish an inheritance of righteousness for our children and our children‘s children through a thousand generations that they might be blessed by You and receive Your mercy. (Exodus 20: 5-6, Psalm 112:2)

May we honor our LORD by keeping the Sabbath holy and enjoying the fellowship of the saints so that we may edify and encourage each other to love and good works. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Let us endeavor to please You by proper discernment of your Word. (2 Timothy 2:15-16) Keep us from immersing ourselves in silly myths and profane babblings of false knowledge that are abundant around us. (1 Timothy 4:7, 6:20) Help us to place only those things in front of our eyes and ears which are true, honorable, just, commendable, excellent, pure, and lovely since this is what you have commanded us to think upon. (Philippians 4:8)

In the name of Christ we make this petition, Amen.
